40 years of hospitality and no end in sight.
What began in 1977 with our own hotel has developed over the past four decades to become a versatile company in the food service sector. In 1999 our seafood restaurant “Aal und Krabbe” (Eel and Shrimp) was added at the harbour in Varel, and in 2007 we built on the “Vareler Brauhaus” (Varel Brewery). In 2015 another addition was realized that offers sufficient space for further seating and our distillery installed in 2016.
Between pots and fermentation tanks
The Vareler Brauhaus meanwhile takes up most of the space in our business at the Varel harbour. Fermentation tanks, storage and serving tanks and the new distillery are harmoniously integrated in the culinary atmosphere and offer every guest an interesting backdrop.
As a result, the seafood restaurant Aal & Krabbe has developed over many years into the kitchen of the Vareler Brauhaus and with its maritime dishes enables a brewery of a very different kind. The bridge between the restaurant and the brewery is our own TIDE organic beer, which is served to our guests as pilsner, “Trüb” (unfiltered), dark and wheat beer.
From 4.8 % to 48 % alcohol.
In the meantime, we are not only happy to serve our organic beer, we also use it as the basis for our distillates – TIDE Brand and TIDE Likör are already a permanent part of our menu. TIDE whisky distillate and TIDE Whisky are currently still stored in barrels, where they are awaiting their first tasting.
However, in the long term we intend to concentrate not only on distillates based on our organic beers. We’re also planning to make rum, vodka and gin. The latter is already in progress and is available to our guests batch by batch. So there really is no end in sight and we’re looking forward to your visit!
